Who We Are
The Marine Technology Society / Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (MTS/SNAME) at Texas A&M University is the professional home for Ocean Engineering students seeking connection with industry, research, and peers. Our chapter bridges the gap between the classroom and the marine, offshore, and naval engineering industries through direct engagement with companies, technical speakers, and hands-on opportunities.
Ocean Engineering became a standalone department at Texas A&M in 2015. As the program grew, the student chapters of MTS and SNAME were combined into a single organization, uniting two globally recognized professional societies under one student-led chapter. This structure allows members to benefit from both SNAMEβs technical foundation and MTSβs interdisciplinary, innovation-driven mission.
Today, MTS/SNAME provides Ocean Engineering students with exposure to industry professionals, insight into diverse career paths, and opportunities to build a strong professional network through meetings, company events, and career fairs. Our chapter supports students interested in ships, offshore structures, subsea systems, marine technology, and ocean research.
